Persian Heriz 9x13

Originated from the Heriz area in East Azerbaijan, Heriz rugs are produced on the slopes of Mount Sabalan. Known for durability, rugs produced in this area tend to incorporate wool that tends to be far more resilient than wool produced elsewhere, presumed to be because of the copper deposits in water and soil.

With a coarse construction, these rugs often feature bold geometric patterns ensconcing a large medallion shape. Neighboring villages of the Heriz region also produce rugs of their namesake including Afshar, Mehraban, Sarab and Bakhshayesh. This contemporary Heriz features the medallion within a medallion design, combining both geometric originality and floral motifs.
