Description
A proper introduction to the Farahan may require a quick little history lesson. The Farahan and Sarouk are produced in the same region of Farahan, Iran. However, these two rugs have distinctive styles and design that set them part but with plenty of crossover. The Farahan rug itself is often divided into two categories as either simply a Farahan or a Farahan Sarouk. And to add even more complication, some Farahan feature traits of both types, making it a bit more challenging to isolate one style or the other.

The Farahan rug made its debut at the world exhibition in 1873 and is often dubbed the American Sarouk. Since that time the Farahan has reached aesthetically-appreciative collectors with its more-sophisticated, artistic designs and palace-sized carpets. This particular Farahan explores the intricacies of the medallion within the medallion motif surrounded by ornate curvilinear floral symmetry.
